  :: 2003 C5 Z06 Corvette EFI Dave's story ::
I took delivery of my 2003 Z06 Corvette on December 8th, 2003. I waited for 5 weeks to get the
car from New Jersey to Hawaii and the anticipation was too much. I had $5k worth of parts sitting
on the garage floor by the time the Z came home. Halltech Candy Pomegranate Carbon Fiber
TRAP and Fuel Rail Covers with custom C5 & Z06 Holograms, B&B Bullets, Hurst Billet Shifter, Z06
Screens for the whole car, Frame & Rail Savers, Aluminum Gauge Bezels, Euro Red/Clear lenses,
Shortened Antenna, Goodridge Stainless Steel Brake Lines, Optima Redtop, 18/19” Z06
Motorsport Wheels wrapped in Yokohama AVS Sports.

I was able to enjoy the first round of modifications for a few months; while slowly feeding the
mod urge with C5R Stage II HID projectors from Spectrewerkes, PIAA 1100x driving lights, brake
light red Corvette lettering for the rear fascia, 35% black tint, Vette Essentials shift & brake
boots, and a 2” drop on the stock suspension hardware, and J2 Concepts Carbon Fiber brake
duct covers. By June of 2004 I had solidified a sponsorship from iForged and my 18x10”
& 19x11” 3 piece Aero’s were being constructed. Working with Vince at iForged netted me a
brand new finish from them in the form of a flat black powdercoat dubbed Hyperblack. I coupled
the new wheels with some sticky Pirelli PZero Rosso tires in 275/35-18 & 305/30-19 sizes. Then
 came Phase II….

October of 2004 rang in the start for the Phase II build up of my Z06 and we were completed with
all of the modifications by November 2004. I wanted 500 reliable wheel horsepower, with rock
solid handling aimed at road course racing. I locked down a sponsorship with Magnusson
Superchargers and my intercooled and polished MP112 Magnacharger was on its’ way. I would
need a new hood to cover the blower so a call to West Coast Corvette had me scheduled to
receive my Motor City Mold Carbon Fiber hood in about 4 weeks. To compliment the blower, I
ordered some LG Motorsports longtube headers with Random Tech cats and an 02 bung for a
Wideband Commander meter. To monitor the vitals, Autometer Cobalt Fuel Pressure and
Vac/Boost gauges were seated in a custom fabbed dual gauge pillar pod with a Raptor LED
shiftlite. To make sure the combo was running to its potential I acquired the HP Tuners VCM
Suite programming/logging software. Now that the performance items were accounted for, I
needed to address the need for cornering horsepower…..enter LG Motorsports Coil-Overs and
Hotchkis Swaybars. The last items on the list for Phase II were for aesthetics, so in addition to
the looks like MCM Hood would get, I cut out the stock hood for a change of scenery between
shows and cruising. I incorporated ACI front canards to the exterior, and custom designed EFI
Unlimited Fuel Rail Covers for the engine compartment as well as a 175 amp chromed alternator.

With Phase II completed I am looking to complete all of the fine tuning with the programming

and suspension. 2005 should bring new dyno & track #’s as well as a bunch of new mods that
include, but are not limited to: a Big Brake set-up, Carvaggio Race Style Seats, Carvaggio Side
Splitters, and a Spectrewerkes Rear Fascia for looks. In the go department, I’m planning on a
Reichard Mag pulley to up boost and eliminate any belt slipping, as well as a Meth/Alcohol
injection kit from ECS & Alky Control. I will also be working with TKO Perfomance on a dry carbon
fiber package for parts replacement and aesthetics.

A huge thanks goes out to all of my sponsors: iForged Performance Alloy’s, Magnusson
Superchargers, JL Autobody Works, Island Car Audio, and EFI Design. Also a very special thanks
to my girlfriend Shane-nah for putting up with my unrelenting urge to spend ridiculous amounts
of money on my OTHER obsession, and to the members of our car club-EFI Unlimited who have
helped and supported the build-up all the way!
